Jarlo cape coat, LINE knitted cardigan, Vintage skirt, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice vintage Benni boots, Urban Outfitters bag, Free People beanie
It's hard to stay warm and still look kind of cool. And it's hard to layer over layer without looking frumpy. I don't like to be cold. And I don't like to look frumpy. The key? Heavy knitted wools in cool patterns and unexpected shapes. Voluminous capes and funky bell sleeves and sweet velvets. Throw them all together . . . so wait, who say layering was hard? This day was literally freezing and freakishly windy, but I was surprisingly warm and cozy all wrapped up like a bag lady. I like how spacious this coat is. So much room for layers underneath, and you can't even tell, because it's still so flattering!
And yup! It's the new vintage-style Benni boot that my sister and I designed in collaboration with Modern Vice. We used a nice vintage Italian leather that was hand-distressed to perfection. Paired that with the kilty detailing and some bad-ass perforations on the front. Menswear style shoes have never felt cooler and sleeker in my opinion.
This past weekend has been super chill for me. I chose sleep over partying on Friday night. My body and mind needed it, after two weeks of weekend travel trips and work, work, work, 11 hours of straight Zzzzzzz's was much needed. Spent Saturday with my friend Chesley, who is a new stylist at Free People. We made out like bandits at Retrospect, my favorite vintage shop in the city, and stuffed our faces with Japanese food. Then I ended the night going out hard with my friend Steph for a night of dancing. Sunday was basically me in bed all day catching up on work, editing photos and watching 5 episodes of The Carrie Diaries online. I love laidback weekends in Philly. This one definitely went by too fast.
