Sometimes I like to downplay things and tap into a more French way of dressing, if you'd like to call it that. These worn to the bone boyfriend jeans are my go-to for easy days like this. A little bit of ankle never hurt anybody. I just pretend it's not that cold out. Also, is it just me or is my ombre slowly coming back? I think its because my hair knows that spring is just around the corner. Or at least its hoping for it with fingers crossed. Split ends and all.

A photo set and experiment with the gorgeous sun one fine afternoon with my lovely friend Mckenzie (follow her on Instagram HERE). Mckenzie is such a natural beauty . . . it doesn't take much to take a good photo of this gal. Plus, she's got the most stunning set of brows I've ever seen. They've got that attitude, if you know what I mean. This weekend was the last weekend before it started getting cold again, and every single particle of sunlight that permeated our skin made all the difference in our sense of well being, and memories of first moving to NYC came rushing back again. It's always such a mind trek watching that everlasting glow that resonates around Manhattan from the Williamsburg waterfront. It's one of those moment when you're like wow, I live here. Just a tiny being with a hungry heart in a sea of millions of other hungry hearts. Sometimes it just hits you hard and you realize why you were meant to be right where you are. I'm so happy to have friends here to share moments like this with.

Just under a week I'll be heading to SXSW in Austin, Texas with my partner-in-crime Nat. We already have an awesome list of shows we plan on hitting up, but now onto a more critical question . . . what are we going to weaaaarrrrrrrr????? When in doubt, I instantly turn to Free People to give me a little kick of inspiration. I can always rely on the brand to give me a whole new color palette idea to swirl around in my head before I go off like a crazy person trying to configure a translation of it with what I already have in my closet. I love the vibrancy and geometry of the Moroccan Romance look book that they put out in January (see above). I just want to play with shapes, long lines and extremely hot punches of color. Let's see how this can be executed with my own Austin state of dressing next week! Check out the rest of Free People's festival ready styles HERE.
Johnny Was tunic, 10 Crosby by Derek Lam coat, Paige Denim skinnies, Modern Vice boots, Vintage purse, Brixton hat, Free People halter (worn underneath)
Everyone has been thinking I'm crazy for wearing ripped jeans in this weather. I get asked "Are your knees cold??" just about 35 times a day. But I love what a good old ripped pair does to an outfit. It adds a whole other dimension. Wear and tear. Growing up, I always had holes in my jeans from playing around like a tomboy. And then when I started getting more into photography and shooting in all sorts of random places . . . let's just say getting on one's knees (that's what she said) to get the perfect shot has accomplished quite the amount of tears here and there.
NYC is STILL cold. I don't think I remember what warmth feels like to be honest. I don't leave the office unless I'm desperate for a snack down the street, but really that's about it. I can't wait for spring to really get here so I can come out and really play! Not to mention, really feel inspired again!

A throwback to California in winter just as its starting to get freezing again in NYC (is it ever really going to end????). Santa Barbary to be exact. One of my favorite Southern California beach towns with a plethora of wine bars. The weather was absolutely fantastic during my entire last trip back home. I soaked in every ray of sunshine that I could. No real jacket needed. Stearns Wharf is one of the most well known boardwalks in Santa Barbara because it connects to State Street, which is the main shopping/eating street. The skatepark, fish n' chips, palm trees against endless blue skies and the strong impulse to jump into the cloud-reflecting waters are almost enough to make me move back to Cali for good. Almost. I forget how much I miss palm trees every time I go back. Santa Barbara is just a short drive along the coast from LA, and the drive is always one of those where you instantly transform into a dog and stick your head out the window the entire time because it just feels so damn good. California, I love you and I miss you.
